Fall Break was simply amazing. I had such a wonderful time. Seeing my family, my friends, and my "kids" again after a couple of months without them was refreshing and blissful. I felt a lot of love -- hugged by kids, tears from friends who miss me, and parents that are still adjusting to the empty nest. I was able to go visit my beloved high school teachers, have dinner with friends, go to a football game to support the band, and have fun at the Daycare Cookout with all the children and parents. The break finished off with grocery shopping and lunch with my parents before they headed home. I feel ready to take on Block II! ((Especially considering that the first IC NaNo meeting is Wednesday!!))

I'm excited for Fall Break, especially because I'm going to be going home to see my family, my friends, and the Daycare kids who I love like my own children. It'll be surreal to go back, realizing what is my home is but a visiting destination, because now, I live here. Ithaca is my other home now, with friends and a family of faculty. Still, while I love it here, it cannot replace or fill the gap that my parents and friends from home have. After all, love cannot be subtracted; only added. My friends from high school aren't superficial, but people I care about like siblings. So, being able to go home, go to a football game, get ice cream, eat dinner at the dinner table with my parents, and spend time with the Daycare kids during the annual cookout on Saturday, are all decadent sweets for me that were once mundane and commonplace.
